In Brief:
Telegram has launched a new in-app browser supporting decentralized websites, making Web3 accessible to its 950 million users.
The browser allows users to switch between websites and messaging, integrating communication with news consumption.

Web3 Becomes Accessible to Millions

Crypto-friendly social messaging platform Telegram has introduced a new in-app browser that supports decentralized websites. Known as "TON Sites,"

these decentralized websites are now accessible on both mobile and desktop, making Web3 instantly available to Telegram's nearly one billion users. CEO Pavel Durov highlighted that this integration merges communication with news consumption, allowing users to switch seamlessly between browsing websites and messaging.

New Features and Mini App Store

In addition to the in-app browser, Telegram has launched its Mini App store, which was promised to be available by the end of July. Users can now send "Stars," the units of the Mini App payment system, to friends.

More than 500 million of Telegram's users interact with Mini Apps monthly, with popular apps like Hamster Kombat and Catizen seeing significant engagement.

Hamster Kombat, a crypto game, has surpassed 300 million players, while Catizen has amassed 26 million players and generated $16 million in revenue since its launch.

TON Ecosystem Developments

Both Hamster Kombat and Catizen utilize The Open Network's native cryptocurrency, Toncoin (TON), which has seen a 467% increase over the last 12 months.

The TON Core team has also introduced the W5 smart wallet standard, enabling gasless transactions to lower entry barriers for new users.

This move aims to further integrate crypto into mainstream use, facilitating easier access to TON's ecosystem without the need to pre-acquire Toncoin.
