In Brief:
Russian-linked hacking group ‘Dark Storm’ executed a massive DDoS attack on X, causing widespread outages.
Elon Musk confirmed the attack, stating that user access was restored swiftly.

X (formerly Twitter) suffered a large-scale cyberattack on March 10, with thousands of users unable to access the platform. The hacking group ‘Dark Storm,’ known for its pro-Palestinian stance and ties to Russia, has claimed responsibility for the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, according to cybersecurity firm SpyoSecure.

SpyoSecure reported that the group’s leader announced the attack on Telegram, stating it was meant as a "demonstration of strength" rather than a politically motivated act. However, the Telegram channel was swiftly removed for violating platform policies. Screenshots shared on X showed connection failures across multiple global locations.

Elon Musk confirmed the cyberattack in an interview with Fox Business, mentioning that the attack originated from IP addresses linked to Ukraine. Despite the disruption, he assured users that platform functionality was restored quickly.

The attack coincides with growing tensions surrounding Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been cutting funding to various government initiatives. Additionally, protests under the “Take Down Tesla” movement have emerged in response to Musk’s policy shifts, leading to Tesla’s stock price falling over 15% in the latest trading session.

While X has faced previous cyberattacks, including one last August before a high-profile interview with Donald Trump, this latest event highlights continued security threats against the platform.
