Web3

Mino Games, the developer behind the Roguelike card building game "Dimensionals," has officially transitioned the game from a Web3 model to a pure Web2 approach. This strategic shift comes after encountering significant challenges in the Web3 space, including malicious bots, DDoS attacks, and rapid changes in the NFT market.
The journey into Web3 began in March 2023 when Mino Games launched the Genesis Stone series of NFTs to boost game awareness and attract mainstream players. However, the project faced unexpected hurdles, such as zero expected revenue and community dissatisfaction due to declining NFT values and low user conversion rates. A second NFT minting and closed alpha test failed to deliver the desired results, prompting Mino Games to reconsider its strategy.
Following extensive discussions with investors and advisors, Mino Games decided to pivot to a Web2 model to mitigate further financial losses. This decision marks a significant change in direction for the company, which had previously secured $15 million in financing to develop Web3 games. The transition highlights the challenges and volatility associated with integrating blockchain technology into gaming.
