In Brief:
A crypto attorney is suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The lawsuit demands release of documents tied to meetings about Satoshi Nakamoto.

A U.S. crypto-focused lawyer has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, requesting the release of documents that could shed light on government meetings or internal discussions relating to the identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

The suit, filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), alleges that DHS may be in possession of information pointing to the real identity or group behind the pseudonymous inventor of Bitcoin. The lawyer claims prior FOIA requests were either ignored or insufficiently answered.

Though the existence of such meetings has not been confirmed, the filing argues that any DHS engagement in tracking crypto founders could raise significant privacy and surveillance questions.

The case is expected to test how far U.S. agencies are willing to disclose national security-related information involving decentralized technologies.
