Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano (ADA), is set to meet with Argentina's president Javier Milei in October to discuss the transformative potential of blockchain technology on global economic and political systems. The meeting is scheduled during the Tech Forum Argentina on October 19.
Hoskinson's upcoming discussion with President Milei will address how blockchain could reshape economic, political, and social structures. The conversation will also explore Argentina's technological values and needs, including the possibility of adopting central bank digital currencies (CBDC) and forming partnerships to rebuild the economy.
The Cardano founder highlighted Milei's alignment with crypto principles, noting the president's support for private institutions and free markets. Hoskinson described Milei as a "philosophical Austrian," sharing beliefs with figures like Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard.
Cardano has established deep roots in Argentina, with the country welcoming the blockchain platform through various cooperation efforts. The Cardano Foundation recently partnered with Argentina to enhance local blockchain adoption, and AtixLabs, one of Cardano's earliest development companies, originated from the country.
Hoskinson emphasized Cardano's long-standing presence in Argentina, alongside Bitcoin's early adoption in the region. President Milei, a known cryptocurrency advocate, has publicly endorsed Cardano, further strengthening the connection between the platform and Argentina.
The meeting coincides with Cardano's recent governance upgrade into the Voltaire era, focused on decentralized governance. The blockchain underwent its first hard fork in the Voltaire era on September 1, introducing community-run governance through onchain consensus.
The final Cardano Constitution, expected to be ratified by ADA holders in December 2024, will solidify Voltaire's onchain voting features. Hoskinson advocates for open debate within the community, emphasizing the importance of diverse ideas in shaping effective governance.
