Authorities in Hefei, Anhui province, have launched a fraud investigation after a woman lost 277,000 USDT in an offline transaction gone wrong. The victim, Ms. Cheng, met with acquaintances to sell USDT but was duped when the buyers took the cash and transferred the crypto away. Despite attempting to trace the stolen funds, the USDT was already moved out of reach.
